はじまりは、城下浩伺とTACO、ふたりの作家がえがくそれぞれの作品と共作でした。

ふたりの作家を中心に、彼らの作品がもつチカラに共鳴するように、たくさんの協力者が集まりました。

デザイナー・カメラマン・写真家など、互いの役割を結集して生まれたものが「 act 」です。

2014年、「act」の象徴となる大阪3会場「millibar gallery」「iTohen」「la galerie」を渡った展覧会をかわきりに、
アートフェアへの出展やクライアントワークなど、活動の幅をひろげています。

The solo and collaborative works of two artists, Koji Shiroshita and Taco –

Many collaborators gathered as they resonated with the power of the artists –

With these two artists at the center, “act” was born by bringing each other's roles from various fields -
such as design, translation and photography - together.

Starting from the series of exhibitions held at three venues in Osaka (“millibar gallery”, “iTohen” and “la galerie”) in 2014, which symbolize “act.”
We have since broadened our field to art fairs, client works and beyond.

actとして制作する絵は、

僕の絵であって僕の絵でない「act」の絵です。

城下浩伺個人としての作品は、

深く深く深く潜っていったところにある

物事の本質のようなものをかくことで普遍性を現そうとしている。

actの作品は逆で、

ポップなものもがんがん取り入れて広げていくことで

普遍性を獲得できないかと思っている。

僕にとって「act」は音楽でいうと

バンドみたいなものかもしれない。

The works I create as “act” are a work of “act”, it's mine but it's not. 

In the works as “Koji Shiroshita”, I'm trying to express universality by drawing essence of things deep, deep, deep inside of them. 

Conversely, in the works of “act”, I'm thinking about achieving universality by unhesitatingly bringing elements from pop culture in it and broadening its style. For me, “act” is like what a band is in music.

act は私にとって思いもよらない出逢いでした。

絵を描くことや  発表することは一人でするものとずっと思っていました。

そうでなければならないとまで思っていたかもしれません。

きっかけがあり

城下さんと一枚の絵を一緒に描きました。

素晴らしい絵が描けた。

そして、その絵に感動してくれる人がいて、さらには

力をかしてくださる人まで

出来てしまった。

今でも

びっくりするような出来事です。


actは

絵とおなじように

沢山の重なる線や、

思いもよらないとこにふとして落ちたインクや  何層にも描きこんだ

美しいグラデーションみたいです。

立場や役割も

もしかしたらそれぞれの

想いも違うもかもしれないけど、

とってもカッコよくて美しい

一枚の 絵になっている。

そんな  存在だとおもいます

“act” was an unexpected encounter for me.

I'd thought that painting and showing my works was what I do by myself.

Maybe I even thought it should be that way.

I had a chance
and I made a piece of work with Koji.
It turned into a wonderful artwork.

And, there were people who were moved by it, 
furthermore, there even came people who helped us.

Even now
it is a surprising thing.

“act” is
like paintings
many overlapping lines
unexpectedly dropped ink
beautifully layered gradations.
Each of us has
a different position and role
and might have
different thoughts 
but that creates 
very cool and beautiful
piece of art.
I think that's what it is.

TACO│Artist

作家が作家として生きていくのはなかなかにたいへんなようです。

ひとつの作品をめぐり、「 つくりて 」「 にないて 」「 うけて 」の循環があって、そのめぐりあわせがうまくいくことも、摩擦がおきることもあります。

そのなかで、作品がもつ価値や意味はきっとひとつではないのだろうと思います。

城下さんとTACOさんは、それぞれがひとりの作家であることに真摯でひたむきです。

一方で、ふたりが共にひとつの作品をえがくという姿勢には、ひとが「個」であることの意味と、ひとと「関わり合う」ことの可能性を示してくれているようにも感じます。

ふたりの作品をめぐり、頼もしいひとたちが集いました。その関係性は、自由で柔軟です。

関わり合うなかで、ちいさくとも居場所や役割を見いだすことができれば、ここちのよいめぐりあいの循環が生まれるかもしれない。もしかすると、すこしだけ生きやすくなるかもしれない。

作家だけではなく、それぞれが可能性の原石であるならば。

Living as an artist is actually quite tough.

With an artwork at the center, “the creator” “handlers” “receivers” circle around, and sometimes they don't agree, and sometimes there is a conflict. In that world, I think the value or meaning that an artwork has is not just one thing. Koji and Taco are sincerely trying to be an independent artist. On the other hand, their attitude of creating one artwork together makes me feel that they're showing the meaning of humans being “individuals” and the possibility of being “related to each other”. Around the artwork of two artists, reliable individuals have been gathered. Relationships among them are free and flexible. If they can find any small role or place to belong as they relate to each other, there might be a pleasant circle of encounters. Or perhaps, they can live a bit easier – if, not only the artists, but each one is a gemstone with possibilities.

まっ白い紙にまっすぐな線がひかれる。

その線を横切るように描かれた曲線は円になる。

その横にそっと青いいろがおかれる。

その上にさっと黒いいろが流される。

小さなこえで会話をすると、日が射してかげが落ちる。

そうするとやがて絵のような
空間ような音のようなものがあらわれる。

_act_について具体的な言葉でつたえることはできないけれど、
私はそんな風景が見えるところに立っていて、撮らせていただいている。

A straight line is drawn on blank, white paper.

A curve drawn across the line becomes a circle.

Blue is put beside it quietly.

Black runs on it.

As we talk in quiet voice, sunshine comes and shadows fall.

Then something appears there,
something like a painting or space, or sound.

I cannot describe “_act_” with any specific words,
I'm standing at a place where I can see such a scenery,
and I am given a chance to shoot it.

いつも一緒にいるわけじゃないけど、いつもその一部である感覚があります。

自立を前提にした関係性をみんなで探っています、たぶん。

We are hardly together, but I always feel that I'm a part of Act. We are seeking a true relationship, I guess.

色んな役割りを持った人が自分なりの関わり方を考えながら動いているのがactらしさなんじゃないかな〜と思います。

actは、僕にとって元気玉のような活動です。

I think what makes “act” unique is that people who each have a different role act as they think how to be involved in it. It's like the “Spirit Bomb(Genki-Dama)” for me.

城下浩伺とTACO、まったくタイプの異なる作家同士である二人が共作をえがく様子は、何度見ても驚きと刺激に満ちています。

言葉や筆でコミュニケーションを取りながら、周囲の人々や環境も巻き込んで大きくなっていく。

そして絵が完成した瞬間、その存在は二人の所有を離れて、宙に浮いているように感じます。

それをどこに着地させるかは、関わる人たちに委ねられているような。

絵との関わり方をそれぞれが見つけられる、それがactの特徴ではないかと思っています。

Seeing Koji Shiroshita and Taco, two completely different artists drawing together is full of surprises.

As the two artists communicate with words and brushes, the artwork, and “act” grow, taking in the people and environment around them.

And at the moment when an artwork has been completed, it seems to be away from them, floating in the air.

It feels like where it lands depends on the people who are involved.
People can find a relationship with art – I believe that's the feature of  “act”.
